Rest for the whole family.

 

Wonder's Playground hosts a sensory-friendly playgroup for autistic young children and their siblings. Parents and caregivers are welcome to stay, but encouraged to drop-off their children and have a time of self-care. We are located in Willowdale, Toronto.

Children are welcome to play or rest as they please. Our location has an active play area as well as a relaxing sensory room. We believe rest is just as important to a healthy childhood as play and learning. ​

We provide a space that considers the needs of neurodivergent children (lighting, noise, toys, informed volunteers) and invite neurotypical children to join in. There are various play stations and children are welcome to freely move around between stations.

 

Children are gently invited to join social and group play, but do not require participation. Different children play differently, and each child's play is wonderful and deserving of respect.

 

We encourage foundational play skills such as turn taking, sharing (where age-appropriate) and self-advocacy. We use various forms of communication as speech is only one of many communication forms. Our activities are chosen to support gross and fine motor skill development but dexterity or mobility is not required to participate.
